A Guide to Filling for Soft Toys

What to look for when choosing fiber for soft toy filling: softness, safety and volume.

Filling priorities for soft toys differ from furniture: softness and safety come first, especially when the toy is intended for children.

Why softness matters

For toys that end up in frequent direct contact with a child's skin, we recommend 1D or 3D fiber — they give the most delicate, softest filling texture.

Hypoallergenic properties and care

Polyester fiber is a synthetic material that, unlike natural fillings, doesn't create conditions for dust mites and holds up well to washing without losing shape. That matters especially for toys that need to be cleaned regularly.

Volume and how light the toy feels

A fiber's denier affects how full and springy a toy feels when squeezed. For medium and large toys, 3D or 7D can work well — they give more noticeable volume while keeping an acceptable softness.

Test before committing to a large order

Before placing an order for your full volume, we recommend getting a trial batch and filling a few sample toys — that lets you evaluate the final softness and volume firsthand and adjust the denier choice if needed.

Our minimum order starts at 400–500 kg — enough for a trial batch before scaling up.
